THE BEST HONEY IN TOWN

RUSSIAN RIVER HONEY
About Us

Russian River Bees & Honey is more than just a brand — it’s a reflection of Northern California’s wild beauty, rich soil, and the hardworking bees that make it all possible.

Born in the heart of the Russian River Valley, our honey tells the story of sunlit blooms, coastal breezes, and the deep connection between bees and the land they pollinate. Every jar we bottle comes straight from local hives in Sebastopol, Forestville, and the surrounding Sonoma countryside, capturing the unique floral flavors of our region — from blackberry blossoms to star thistle and wildflowers.

We’ve been dedicated to pure, small-batch honey and sustainable beekeeping since our first hive. Our bees work naturally, without shortcuts, creating honey that’s raw, rich, and full of life. Whether you find us at the Forestville Pop-Up Market, the Guerneville Flea Market, or local stores across Sonoma County, you’re tasting a true piece of California nature.

At Russian River Bees & Honey, our mission is simple:
Protect the bees. Share their story. Keep the taste of Sonoma alive — one jar at a time.

Russian River Bees at Home

Russian River Bees at Home grew out of real beekeeping—early mornings in the fields, checking hives, working with the seasons, and learning how local land, flowers, and weather shape the honey we produce. What started as hands-on hive care has grown into a focused effort to bring truly local honey and bee-based products from the hive to the bottle, right here in our community.

Our work centers on small-batch honey production and bottling, guided by what the bees give us and what the land provides. We focus on maintaining healthy colonies, harvesting responsibly, and handling honey with care so its natural flavor, aroma, and character stay intact. From wildflower and seasonal blossoms to specialty local sources, every batch reflects where it came from and the time it was produced.

As we continue to grow, our bottling and production process is expanding to support a bigger local honey impact—serving families, small retailers, and community partners who value transparency, quality, and real local sourcing. We don’t rush production or treat honey like a commodity. Instead, we take a thoughtful, practical approach that respects the bees, the process, and the people who enjoy the final product.

Beyond honey, Russian River Bees at Home supports related bee services and products that strengthen local agriculture and awareness—connecting people to where their food comes from and why pollinators matter. Everything we do is rooted in hands-on experience, steady growth, and a commitment to keeping local honey truly local.

Our Commitment to Quality & Local Service

Quality is at the center of everything we do, from caring for our hives to bottling each jar of honey. We believe quality starts long before production—with healthy bees, clean environments, careful handling, and attention to every step of the process. By working in small batches and staying close to our operations, we’re able to maintain consistency, traceability, and the natural character of each harvest.

As we grow our bottling and production capabilities, our focus remains simple: do it right, do it clean, and do it locally. We follow best practices for food safety, cleanliness, and process control, continually refining our methods to meet high standards without losing the hands-on approach that makes local honey special.

Our goal is not mass production. Our goal is to serve Northern California—our neighbors, local families, small retailers, and community partners—by keeping honey production close to home. Staying local allows us to respond quickly, stay transparent, and ensure the quality people expect when they choose honey made in their own region.

We’re here to serve our local community first, building something sustainable, honest, and rooted in Northern California—one batch, one bottle, and one relationship at a time.

SONOMA COUNTY HONEY

Sonoma County Honey: Then and Now Sonoma County has a long, quiet relationship with honeybees. Long before large-scale agriculture, the region’s rolling hills, river corridors, and wild landscapes created ideal conditions for nectar flows. Native wildflowers, oaks, blackberry thickets, and later orchard crops gave bees a diverse and steady food source. In the early days, beekeeping here was mostly small-scale and practical. Farmers and homesteaders kept a few hives for pollination and household honey. Areas like Sebastopol and Forestville, shaped by coastal air and river influence, became especially favorable for bees thanks to mild temperatures and extended bloom cycles. The Russian River corridor helped sustain nectar flows well into the dry months. As agriculture expanded, honey production followed. Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Healdsburg, and Cloverdale all played roles as orchards, vineyards, and pasturelands created new forage opportunities. Beekeeping evolved alongside farming — still local, still seasonal, and still deeply tied to the land. Today, Sonoma County honey tells a more complex story. Development, climate shifts, and changing land use have made beekeeping more challenging, but also more important. Healthy bees now depend on thoughtful hive placement, seasonal movement, and careful management. The reward is honey that truly reflects place — floral, nuanced, and shaped by microclimates that only Sonoma County can offer. That’s where Russian River Bees & Honey comes in. We work with local forage, local landowners, and seasonal honey flows to care for bees responsibly and produce small-batch California honey rooted in this region. Our goal is simple: healthy hives, honest honey, and shared knowledge. We also believe beekeeping doesn’t have to stay hidden or exclusive. Whether you’re curious about keeping a hive as a hobbyist or want to understand how bees fit into Sonoma County’s future, we offer guided education and hands-on learning for those who want to take part. Beekeeping can be sustainable, meaningful, and deeply rewarding when done right. With care, community, and education, it can stay that way.

New Roots, Same Sweetness: Russian River Honey’s Next Chapter

A New Chapter for Russian River Honey As many of you know, Russian River Honey started right here in Forestville — small steps, small batches, and a big dream. This past season, we’ve made an exciting move to new farmland in Sebastopol, a lowland trust where our bees now have more space to thrive. It’s a fresh start with more blossoms, more opportunity, and a chance to grow. Of course, our journey is never about leaving one place behind. We still keep hives along the Russian River, where the wildflowers and blackberry blossoms give our honey its unique taste. These roots remain an important part of who we are and the flavors we share. We know growth takes time, and little by little we’re building something special — new hives, more harvests, and a growing family of customers who believe in what we do. Each jar you’ve purchased has helped us take the next step, and for that, we are truly grateful. As we continue this path, we invite you to follow along. Taste the difference of honey that’s local, small-batch, and connected to the land we all share. ✨ Thank you for being part of the journey. The best is yet to come.
